This study aims to determine whether there are differences in metaphor perceptions between individuals with learning disabilities and those with normal development at the age of 7-9-11, and whether metaphor perceptions differ according to various variables such as disability status, age, and gender. The study group consists of 54 children with learning disabilities and 54 peers with normal development at the age of 7-9-11, residing in Istanbul, totaling 108 children. A total of 13 paintings were selected from among the paintings of Painter Pablo Ruiz Picasso and Painter Vladimir Kush by obtaining expert opinion. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using the content analysis method. The results were tabulated, explained, and interpreted in line with the objectives of the study. As a result of the study, significant differences were found between children with learning disabilities and their peers with normal development in terms of metaphor perceptions. However, when the use of abstract words in metaphors was examined, it was seen that the difference between children with learning disabilities and their peers with normal development continued in the same way. The findings obtained were interpreted in line with the relevant literature, and suggestions were presented.
